TAILOR BASKETS, INC.
The beginning stages of business can be very difficult and challenging, unless it has a spark and a determined person to drive it.  For Linda Young, (Tailor Baskets, Inc) the spark began from a desire to create a gift basket industry for personal and business needs.  It took form in a Newport garage in October of 2007 with a gloomy beginning.  When good sales people were hard to come by, Linda’s sister left her well-paying job to help the fragile business.  Seven years later, however, the Newport Beach garage expanded to a 5,000 square foot warehouse that makes over $1 million annually.  Business ethics such as effective cost and outstanding customer service are some of the key forces that drive the business.  With clients in prestigious markets such as the real estate and lending industry, Tailor Baskets, Inc. looks to further expand in both gift baskets and full-service event planning.

SOCCER CENTRAL

The American Dream seemed miles away for Jesse Mendoza, Sr. who worked for a sporting goods store in Mexico.  When he finally came to the U.S in the late 1960’s, he never imagined the job he left in Mexico was actually a puzzle piece to an American Dream. After 15 years as a supermarket employee, the other puzzle pieces presented themselves to him at sporting goods expo that inspired him to open his own business, Soccer Central, in 1988 with son, Jesse Mendoza, Jr., who became co-owner in 1996.  The initially 700 square foot space nearly quadrupled in size to a 2400 square foot shop with three locations.  Their competitive prices, ability to be service oriented and specialization in products from named vendors will allow their American Dream to live on.
