JUNIORVERSITY
Raised in L.A., Gwen Crews (Juniorversity) grew up in a close knit family filled with happy childhood memories.  Her adult life had its share of ebbs and flows, such as when her first husband was killed in an auto accident.  Her magical childhood memories, however, inspired her nonetheless to launch her 1994 home-based childcare business, “Little Lambs” with current husband Bobby Crews.  As business expanded, so did her vision for a learning and development center when she and Bobby Crews saw a vacant warehouse near a freeway for sale in late 2001.  Three and a half years later, a full service, multicultural child development center for infants through pre-teens manifested as JuniorversityJuniorversity also provides scholastic education, parental training and a host of other skills pertinent to healthy childhood development.  The center is currently licensed for enrollment of 96 students and is looking forward to expansion

CPA INC.

Josephina De La Cruz (CPA INC.) was only 23 years old when she came to America from the Philippines on a student visa.  Although she remained legally in the U.S for some time because of political turmoil in the Phillipines, she used her time productively and eventually became a full time CPA in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.  Her luck seemed to change when her youngest daughter fell ill and forced her to take a pay cut.  To combat the cutback, she began bookkeeping out of her home for friends’ businesses after hours.  She then made the life-altering decision to quit her job and open her own practice, CPA INC.  300 clients later, the 25-year-old consulting firm is devoted to small business development, offering a range of financial services.

Despite the business success of her business, Josephina De La Cruz has still managed to invest in her community.  As one of the founding board directors of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, she was also their first woman elected President and their only president to be elected two terms.
