ANTELOPE
VALLEY MEDICAL COLLEGE
Sandra and Marco Johson (www.antelopevalleymedicalcollege.com)
met in grade school while growing up in Lancaster. Their
business, the Antelope Valley Medical College was started
when Sandra would set up training classes for Marco in
various aspects of EMT/CPR training, and he would then
teach others the knowledge he gained. They saved money
to lease a 700 square foot facility and purchase a mannequin.
Their first year (1998) they grossed $6,000. Since then,
they have exponentially grown in size over the past five
years. Their major break came when they received national
accreditation from the federal government. This enabled
them to offer financial aid to students, and greatly increase
revenues. This year they are projected to make over $7,000,000.
They have a staff of over 60 people and have trained over
450 students. Their plans for the future are to franchise
the CPR portion of their business nationwide and open
more schools throughout Southern California.

ALDELANO
PACKAGING CORPORATION
Aldelano
Packaging Corporation (www.bossthemovement.com) handles
the packaging needs of fortune 500 companies including
General Mills, Proctor & Gamble and Kellogg’s.
They have five packaging plants in California, Georgia,
Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Al Hollingsworth started
the business in 1968 when he was 23 years old. When the
club stores (Costco, Sam’s club, etc.) began taking
off, Al says that created a great opportunity for him
to work with major companies that needed “variety
packs” to sell to those club stores. Hattie came
to work for Al in 1970. She was supposed to be a secretary,
but Al asked her to do sales where she became the top
salesperson. It was a couple of years later that they
became romantically involved. They’ve been married
32 years. The company did go bankrupt in 1985, so they
started over with nothing. Today their multi-million dollar
business is debt-free and they are looking to expand their
business. They want to use their wealth to teach young
people to become entrepreneurs.
