What does your business do?

Provide a product that helps protect your hairstyles.

When and why did you start the biz?

I started my business October 2001, to help women preserve their  hairstyles longer.

How Many People are in your Company? 2 (My Husband and I)

What's the toughest part of running your biz?

Marketing my product is the toughest part. If I had the funds to advertise or pay a marketing company to help promote my business, that would be a blessing.

What's the most fun part?

I get to meet lots of people by visiting different salons where I pass out my flyers and I get to see the customers' expressions when they see how the pillow works. I really love it when an and to later hear from them on how great it worked for them and their encourging words for me to take it to TV.

What's next on the horizon for your biz?

I will be contacting our local radio station for air time and continue searching for a way to get my pillows placed in a department store.

What advice do you have for others?

Don't ever feel you can't do something. If it's in your heart to do it, Just Do It.  You can't always listen to negative words from someone telling you you'll never get it off the ground. I don't have marketing skills but I have a drive that keeps me going forward with my business. You just have to stay focused.

Prior jobs or business or education?

I retired from the Water District in California, and I'm presently working full time with my pillow business

Is there any one person or event in your life that led you to go into business for yourself?

My daughter Kunisha encouraged me to sell my pillows. I originally made one just for myself and she saw how well it keep my hair looking and told me I needed to make them for sell.
