Your blog extolling the virtues of The Best & The Brightest (and the bad rap of Elitist thereby attached) is another in a series I've come to expect from you: well reasoned and pointed in the direction of Excellence.

Great inspiring show; I wish there was more info on acquiring start up capital for new minority businesses. If someone has suggestions, we would surely want to hear from you. Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment to our Making It show. Start up capital is always challenging for all genders and ethnicity! Begin now to make friends with your banker and I recommend that you visit a Small Business Administration office or their web site to learn more about access to capital.
Personal savings, help from friends, using home equity and customer financing are the most frequent sources of money for start up.

Michelle and Ron: I would also suggest that you become certified through your local NMSDC Council and begin networking w/in those channels. There are many new hybrid financing opportunities and SBA-type lending available for minority businesses. These opportunities are expanding. Best Regards.
