What does your business do?

Promotes children's achievements - from tots to teens.

When and why did you start the biz?

MyKidz Creations was started in December 2007 as a means to promote the every day students' accomplishments. It is a whimsical magazine highlighting every day photos of children.

What's the toughest part of running your biz?

Getting advertisers to buy in to the new concept while also searching for distribution points.

What's the most fun part? 

The best part is seeing my granddaughters' eyes light up when they see the pictures in the magazine. The second best part is reading stories that children write, seeing proud parents and friends open the magazine and see their child.

What's next on the horizon for your biz?

The next step is to go online with an e-magazine.

What advice do you have for others?

Take your time, do not rush to get things done. Keep your current job until you have a stable income. Accept help and ask for candid feedback about your ideas.

Prior jobs or business or education?

Volunteered working with children. Degree in Project Management and Public Administration.

Is there any one person or event in your life that led you to go into business for yourself?

Friends sharing their children’s accomplishment via phone, internet, pictures.  I love to hear about children doing good work!
